Design and Simulation of an Accident Prevention System Based on Weather Conditions and Internet of Things

چکیده :
The growing urban population and expanding transportation infrastructure have intensified concerns regarding road safety and accident prevention. In many cities, the absence of intelligent monitoring and risk prediction systems has contributed to the rising impact of road accidents, typically caused by human error, road conditions, vehicle faults, and weather factors. Despite various studies, no fully intelligent accident prevention system has yet been implemented in Iran. This study proposes a real-time IoT -based system for accident prevention focused on weather conditions such as heavy rain and snow in both urban and intercity areas. Each vehicle is equipped with a temperature and humidity sensor, GPS module, ESP32 microcontroller, and power components. The system continuously monitors local environmental data and transmits it to a web server. A mobile application visualizes this data on a map and displays the real-time temperature and humidity of different areas to the driver. User feedback showed that over 60% of participants were fully or highly satisfied with the system’s performance. The system operates efficiently, with power consumption during transmission measured at 2.75 watts and total energy use of 82.5 joules. Data communication is secured via HTTPS using TLS 1.3, and the mobile app is optimized to minimize traffic and memory usage. These features make the system suitable for reliable, low-power accident prevention in smart transportation environments.
